Constant Broadening of Concepts
In addition to certified high-quality academic programs, this school has an outstanding international cooperation, publishes a magazine, designs and organizes events (professional events, fairs, art competitions, festivals), has cultural-artistic and sport society…
The College of Tourism was founded in 1967 as a state institution, and has the longest tradition in educating staff for tourism industry. It educates experts for the most complex jobs in tourism. For years, the interest for this school has been high, and modern curriculums of basic studies, along with knowledge, expertise and experience of the lecturers are a guarantee of success.
The training lasts three years or six semesters, and after its completion students acquire higher education (vocational economist in tourism). The curriculum is harmonized with Bologna Declaration and needs of tourism industry (new study program is implemented in 2007/2008).
The College of Tourism has won a number of both domestic and international awards and recognitions for development and quality of educational process. Great attention is paid to the constant visit of the guest professors and lecturers from abroad. Teaching staff and students actively participate in organization of a number of professional events, conferences and fairs (the International Festival of Tourist and Ecology Film ”Sila Fest”, the International Film and Music Festival ”Kustendorf”, International Tourism Fair in Belgrade, ”Lorist” in Novi Sad...).
The school also issues professional-scientific magazine Turističko poslovanje, which deals with theory and practice of tourism. Great attention is dedicated to the culture and sports, so school incorporates cultural-artistic society (”Novi Beograd”), a dance group and sport society that achieved considerable successes in various events and competitions.
GRAPHIC COMPETITION – CULTURAL EVENT
This educational institution is the co-organizer with National Review of the competition for the best series of the photography ”Beautiful Face of Serbia”. In cooperation with the SKC Gallery Novi Beograd, ”EX-YU graphic competition” is organized every year. The idea arose four years ago, in order to gather a number of academic graphic artists and final year art university students from country and region. After the fourth successful completion of the competition, with the participation of the most famous graphic artists, and participation of artists from all republics of former Yugoslavia and Art Academies from Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Niš, Sarajevo, Banjaluka, Ljubljana and Zagreb, one might say that the competition grew into the significant cultural event. Jury consists of prominent artists and art historians, which with high criteria and credibility of their names, dictate the quality of the exhibition. The exhibition has so far seen authors of great artistic value, with almost all classic graphic techniques represented.
Beside the media, the exhibition is largely supported by associations of artists such as ULUS, ULUPUDUS, and similar associations in former Yugoslav republics, as well as academic institutions (such as the Faculty of Fine Arts and Faculty of Applied Arts). Since last year, due to the great public interest, the exhibition has after the Belgrade premiere moved to other eminent galleries outside Serbia (Bar, Zagreb, soon Sarajevo, Ohrid, Rijeka, Ljubljana, Cetinje, Banjaluka...). After the fifth competition at the end of November this year in Belgrade, they are planning a guest exhibition from all five ”EX-YU graphic competitions” in many galleries around the world.
This competition and exhibition, growing into an important cultural event, will in the future change its physiognomy. Each year it will have something specific, but will keep its basic ideas, mission and vision.
